A Weekly Short Film Review
This week’s “small film” is a tough to watch coming of age. Titan tells the story of a 13-year-old boy going through a ritual to join a teen gang. Although, this is not like a fraternity or high school freshmen hazing. It is more on the bullying and humiliation side. Reflecting the ruinous side of boyhood and teenage angst.
Titan is directed by Valéry Carnoy, a Belgian filmmaker trained at the National Institute of Spectacle Arts (Insas) in Bruxelles, initially trained in intercultural psychology at the Université Libre of Brussels. Each of his short films has received over 20 awards. Particularly, Titan selected in various prestigious film festivals around the globe.
With what we saw in Titan, we can see why this short has won some awards and has been exposed on some of the world’s biggest stages.
